La Catedral: When the royal court decided to leave Valladolid, there departure unfortunately left behind the cathedral in its present condition. And although still impressive with it’s façade an obvious work of its’ architect Juan de Herrera it never quite became the monumental building he had originally designed in 1585. In its interior you can see a painting of the “Transfiguration” by Lucas Jordan along with it’s beautiful choir balcony and altar. Some other pieces from the old gallery are held at the “Museo Diocesano”.

Santa María de la Antigua: Declared Historical Artistic Monument the 11th may 1806 it’s another one of the cities many landmarks. The 4 roman towers of the castle are undoubtedly the most beautiful parts of the building since the remainder of the structure was built in gothic style in the 14th century.

Colegio de San Gregorio - Museo Nacional de Escultura: This museum is one of the prime examples of architecture from the Catholic kings, the museum and it’s dome were built by Juan Guas and it’s home to the best collection of sculptures in the world. There are various galleries with works from artists such as Alonso Berruguete, Juan de Juni or Gregorio Fernandez that truly deserve a visit.

Museo Oriental: Founded in 1908, with it’s more recent remodel finishing in 1985 here you’ll find one the largest collections of Oriental Arte in Europe. Some of the finest Philippine and Chinese pieces on display.

Casa de Cervantes: On the calle del Rastro you’ll find the a house which once belonged to Miguel De Cervantes in 1605 and where he wrote sample novels and part of the story of Quijote. The house with shares the block with 5 others is still home to some of the writers personal belongings.
